As an English teacher, I often encounter students who struggle to see the reasons for studying literature or grammar is critical. They sometimes tell me that the lessons I teach won’t be useful to them later in life. While this playful skepticism can be endearing (Lol!), it also demonstrates a common misconception about the purpose of these subjects. Literature and grammar are not just academic exercises.
