Our mornings play a crucial role in setting the tone for the entire day. And, a well-structured morning routine not only helps us prepare ourselves but also sets our students up for success. In this blog post, we will explore the best routine for teachers to help them create a successful classroom day. This includes things like focusing on essential elements like bell ringers, activating prior knowledge, lesson introduction, modeling, guided practice, and independent work. How to Teachers Set the stage for a Successful Classroom Day?
For a teacher to have a set the stage for a successful classroom day, she must begin with the basics. What are the basics? The basics include morning bell ringers, activiting prior knowledge, introduce the lesson, modeling, guided practice, and independent work.
The Morning Bell Ringers
As the morning bell rings and students shuffle into the classroom, I like to incorporate a “morning bell ringer” activity that engages my students’ minds from the moment they step in. And, you can too! This could be a quick, fun question, a thought-provoking quote, or a brainteaser related to the day’s lesson. The purpose is to capture their attention and set a positive tone for the day.
Activating Prior Knowledge
Before diving into new material, activate your students’ prior knowledge related to the topic. This step helps them recall what they already know, making it easier to connect new information with existing knowledge. Engage them with a brief discussion or a short quiz that will refresh their memories on the subject matter. This approach primes their brains for learning and fosters a sense of confidence in their abilities.
